We Are The Best Country In The World

Dear America,

These Liberty Letters are not written to take a place with the talking heads on 24 hour news channels that just complain about everything with no solutions, they are written to bring a voice of common sense and new ideas to the national conversation which has become so divisive. They are written anonymously because they are not about Instagram fame or trending on Twitter, they are here to show that conversations and agreement, or at least respect, can still happen in this great country. Politics have always created ideological “us” vs “them”, but today our conversations are so heavily influenced by loud, extreme minorities that “us” has become so entrenched on everything that “them” could be anyone. We are all Americans — US.

As a nation we came into this world in a firing birth, the bombs were bursting in air, and we formed a government that was separate from the kings and suppression we came from. Our country went through the awkward teenage years and almost split, but we ultimately did what was right and become a country that led in industry and defeated the Nazi’s, we were high school heroes. We graduated to create great jobs, built a middle class and allowed our people to flourish like no other nation in the history of the world, but we got greedy in our middle age. We allowed the country to be corrupted by greed, in our economy and in our government. Now we’re approaching old age, as empires in world history go, the question we have to ask ourselves is, do we want to be screaming on the porch for everyone to get off our lawn, even though the grass is dying because of our own actions, or do we want to be old, wise and just, as we help future generations succeed?

We are all lucky to be alive in a time of great opportunity, and living in the United States. The luck of the draw put us, right here, right now. We are great people, we seize opportunities and become heroes when forced into bad situations. Call the ideas in these letters crazy or ideological, but don’t say we can’t do it because of the way the system works. That’s the core of the problem, our system doesn’t work and only we can change it. All the lawyers and lobbyist in the world will fight everything in here, and I don’t blame them. As humans they fight for their own interests, but their interests are not ours.

I have no idea if these letters gain traction, or if they die on my hard drive, but the first step in changing anything starts with an idea.

Sincerely,

The Middle American
